Bulls, Clowns and Rodeo Queens

Want to experience some authentic Central Oregon fun? Grab a cowboy hat and head on out to one of our two small-town rodeos this summer. You’ll rub elbows with locals and tourists alike at the Sisters Rodeo and the Crooked River Roundup in Prineville, both held in June.

Root for your favorite performer until the sun goes down as professional cowboys and cowgirls rope, buck, wrestle and ride into the night. Rodeo queens come from around the state to join in the fun, and the rodeo clowns put on a show worthy of the price of admission.

These celebrations are as real as it gets—both communities are steeped in the cowboy and ranching tradition, and they go all-out come rodeo time.

Not sure where to go after the riding’s through? We’ve got tips on where to eat and drink starting on page 104.
