22 Oct Hop In The Spa
Inspired by the beer-based spas that are common throughout Europe, Hop In The Spa owners Sally Champa and Mike Boyle decided to open their own tranquil retreat in Sisters. Working with Deschutes Brewery as their beer and hops provider, the spa combines cedar soaking tubs with a proprietary brew of hops, malt, hot spring water and other herbs and minerals for a relaxing and revitalizing experience. Patrons can sip a pint of craft beer or a glass of local wine while soaking in their microbrew bath—made minutes before they arrive—then enjoy a massage featuring hop-infused oils. The hops are said to flush toxins and replenish the skin while the malt exfoliates and is loaded with vitamin C. Champa, who’s also the spa’s massage therapist, says it’s a great way to alleviate stress, anxiety, insomnia, sore muscles and inflammation.
Other beer-inspired services at the spa include hop oil wraps, herbal hop steams and barley grain foot scrubs. Hop In The Spa is also working on a line of “Bath Brews,” beer-inspired bath products like hops and malt shampoo.
