An architectural redeux at the Riverhouse

One of Bend’s oldest resorts got a major makeover this year. Step inside the newly renovated and renamed Currents Restaurant at the Riverhouse on the Deschutes and you won’t even recognize the place from its former self. New owner Vesta Hospitality invested $10 million dollars in renovations on the facility and hotel rooms at this classic location nestled on a beautiful stretch of the Deschutes River on the north end of Bend. Local architects Neal Huston & Associates worked alongside Texas-based hospitality specialists Plante’s Hotel Renovation on the project. Guest services, the hotel lobby and check-in were relocated to the restaurant building to create the living room of the hotel and introduce arriving guests to the beautiful river setting. An open floor plan and large windows allow in plenty of natural light and create a casual atmosphere for gathering family and friends. The restaurant interior has been transformed to an ambiance of modern comfort. An outdoor patio is now equipped with heaters, fire pits and several seating options from tables to cozy chairs for comfortable outdoor dining year-round. The 42-year-old Bend icon the Riverhouse has been restored to its former glory on one of the prettiest stretches of the river in town. See
